This property for sale is steeped in history, including being commandeered in two world wars as a military hospital, and hosting Dr. Barnado's from 1956 to 1976. A great many people who visit this property express their pleasant surprise of how 'warm' and 'accommodating' the property feels, on entering the house for the first time.

OUTSIDE

A tree-lined, lighted tarmac driveway of almost 100 yards, allows a pleasant entrance to one side of the property and to the front of the house. There are tarmac parking areas to the front of the house accommodating 3 cars comfortably, and to the side/rear of the house, accommodating  up to around 16 cars.

Passive detectors give security lighting to all sides of the house. The driveway lighting and Victorian style street lamp are lit passively, and the front of the house is floodlit with 2 SON floodlights. The formal pond and the outbuilding is also passively floodlit. The grounds are mainly lawned to the front, rear and sides, with a variety of shrubs, formal hedges and mature specimen trees. In fact, this property boasts some of the tallest, mature trees within a 10 mile radius.

The garden attracts a proliferation of local wildlife, due to the trees, bushes, grassed areas and formal pond. The enclosed rear garden houses a block paved sun terrace enclosed by ornamental pillar stone walling. The front formal garden is surrounded by hedges, trees and shrubs. There is an attractive rockery at the bottom of the garden containing many mature rockery plants. The trees are specimen trees, some of the mature ones being oak, lime, silver birch, conifer, spruce, birch, gladioli, copper birch, cherry and sycamore.

A summer house sits in one corner of the front garden, overlooking the formal pond. To the side is another formal garden, with large grassed area, and to the rear is a most private lawn garden, containing hedges, shrubs, plants and trees.

The rear sun terrace and patio extends to the Office / Games Room, where there is another ornamental pond, with a Lion's Head fountain, for pumped water into the pond. The grounds are surrounded by a mixture of mature hedging and fencing, which create the privacy. The property is bounded both sides by properties of similar stature, and grazing land to the rear.
